Scott has been teaching private piano lessons since 2005, when he joined the staff of the MusicArts Group in Columbus, OH. The studio closed later that year and he continued to teach students of all ages, levels and interests. Currently, he teaches students primarily from his Upper West Side apartment but does arrange in-home lessons. In addition to teaching classical technique and approach, Scott integrates sight-reading, music theory and ear training into each individual curriculum developed for each student. He is also a specialist in teaching jazz and popular styles, incorporating strong elements of rhythm, chord theory and improvisation into his lessons. In short, he believes that music is a serious discipline, but it should also be enjoyed!

Scott grew up in a family of singers - his father is a professional cantor and both his mother and sister sing in the synagogue choir, with the latter going on to receive her vocal performance degree from Boston University. As a result, accompanying has always been a sort of second nature. He is comfortable accompanying all styles and is, in particular, a specialist for Broadway, jazz and other popular styles. Some of his recent work has included appearances with Broadway star Rachel York and world-renowned cantors Alberto Mizrahi and Meir Finkelstein.
